Europe's Top 5 Social Networking Apps: A Q4 2020 Performance Overview

The final quarter of 2020 saw varying trends for Europe's most popular social networking applications, with data provided by Sensor Tower. Here's a snapshot of how each app fared in terms of downloads, revenue, and active users.

VK: social network, messenger experienced a rise in weekly revenue from $540K to $694K before closing the quarter at $694K. Downloads for the app saw a slight decline from 378K to around 340K in mid-quarter, but rebounded to end at 440K. Weekly active users started at 87.7M, dipped to 85.5M, and then recovered to 87.3M.

Azar - Video Chat's revenue showed an uptrend from $990K to over $1.2M. Download numbers climbed steadily from 196K to 248K, while weekly active users increased from 1.7M to 1.8M.

BIGO LIVE-Live Stream, Go Live reported revenue growth from $720K to $930K before dipping to $830K at the quarter's end. Downloads fluctuated, peaking at 352K before dropping to 311K. Active users remained fairly stable, starting at 1.7M and ending the quarter slightly higher at 1.8M.

Grindr - Gay Dating & Chat saw its revenue increase from $324K to $328K, with downloads hovering around 30K each week. The app's active users grew from 986K to over 1M by the quarter's conclusion.

Reports+ for Instagram, despite not having revenue data to report, showed a pattern in downloads, starting at 50K and rising to 61K. Weekly active users, however, experienced a decline from 2.2M to 1.5M.
